Tuesday night our local PPA group met up in Bloomington for an awesome lesson in photographing families with Jessica Weinstock Photography.  I first met Jess a few years back at the Reset Conference and ever since then I have followed her work.  Her knack for making families look so joyful and relaxed with real genuine connection is what draws me to her photos.  Jess was wonderful about explaining in detail what she was doing and why. 

Little Nate, the middle child of our model family wasn’t really feeling it when we first started shooting.  However, in true Jess form, she soon had him happy and more than willing to participate with a little break, some coaxing and fart noises (who doesn’t love a good fart noise)!  Soon he was the star of the show!

She never forces the kiddos to smile (no cheese here – woohoo!), or be anything other than themselves.  Mom and dad are rarely asked to look at the camera, but instead to look at each other, snuggle in to their children, and just let the magic happen!

Riley, the Brown’s daughter, was a natural, and eager to do anything that was asked and she blew us away with her sweet smiles!  Ben the baby charmed us all with his stunning baby blue eyes.

We can’t thank Jess enough for traveling to Bloomington from her hometown north of Chicago.  The lessons you taught us were priceless!

I am eager to put all this great education to use in future family sessions.  Creating photos that families can look back on and feel the love and see the connection only they have is what I love most about my job!
