Michaela and Gustavo’s gorgeous, traditional wedding took place in May 2021, and it could not have been a more perfect day. Not even COVID could overshadow their beautiful day filled with love, laughter, and family. The ceremony was kept small, the couple calling it minimalist, romantic and traditional.

Michaela and Gustavo met at the University of Nebraska their freshman year and have known each other for seven years, and been together four. The two of them had wanted to have God be a central part of their whole day, so instead of doing a trendy first-look, this couple opted for a “first-prayer.” In a small courtyard next to the Chapel, Michaela and Gustavo privately connected with God together before the ceremony.

Michaela had kept her wedding dress a secret from everyone, including her bridesmaids, until the day of the wedding. She did a sort of first-look for both her bridesmaids and her dad. Both Michaela and Gustavo wanted to have their individual and wedding party photos taken outside after the ceremony, and the sunny Spring day was an absolute dream.

The traditional wedding ceremony was at St. John’s Catholic Newman Center in Champaign, IL before heading to the reception held at Silvercreek Restaurant. The stunning greenhouse made for an intimate and unique reception for the family to laugh, eat, and dance together as they celebrated the newlyweds. The new Mr. and Mrs. Reyes were a truly beautiful couple, and I wish them endless happiness.
