Laura and Yeoh had a beautiful day in April for their “mini-mony” – that’s what I’m choosing to call these small intimate ceremonies that have become popular in the post-COVID world.
Twin City Bible Church in Urbana was the setting for saying their vows in front of loved ones and friends that were able to attend. Yeoh’s family is all in Malaysia, and due to COVID guidelines, they were unable to attend in person, however thanks to modern technology, they were able to watch virtually. The ceremony was held at 10 a.m. with was 11 p.m. in Malaysia! The couple was so thankful that Yeoh’s family was able to at least see their nuptials that way.
During the ceremony Pastor David Kang had so many touching words for Laura & Yeoh during his message. My favorite of his advice was when he reminded the couple that “…the foundation of a marriage is “God’s love for you.” and that “love is a maturation process to become like Jesus Christ.” What wonderful words of wisdom for any couple just starting out their married life.
After their ceremony, we traveled to the University of Illinois Arboretum for pictures of the new Mr. & Mrs. April at the Arboretum is absolutely the most beautiful with the trees flowering and the grass turning green.

Wedding photographs should tell the full story: the candid joy; the family photos grandma loves; the dance photos that leave everyone feeling connected long after “Shout!” stops playing…we get to know each other throughout the planning process – that’s why every package comes with engagement photos as well. So by your wedding day, we’re old friends, you’re comfortable with my camera, and your moments are genuine and never forced.
