12 years ago I started out capturing cherished moments when my kiddos were little and sharing them. Soon others were asking me to do the same for their families.
Because of the limited number of images on each roll, photographing with film forces me to slow down and really observe the beauty in the world, and the people around me, making each click of the shutter count. After photographing hundreds of portrait sessions over the past few years, I’ve found that starting with a conversation is the best way to begin this process. I want to hear everything— all about your kids, how you're adjusting as a new mom, what are your after high school plans, funny first date stories, or how you got engaged.
We’ll get to know one another, talk about the details of your expectations, answer any questions you might have about working with me and figure out if we’re the best fit for each other.

Once your date is reserved, we'll connect to start chatting about possible locations for your session. We generally recommend choosing one location. There are so many wonderful locations that I love to use, depending on the season, time of day, weather, etc... So, if you're not sure about where you would like to take your photos but you have a general idea of the look you would like, just let us know because we would be happy to recommend a few locations based on your aesthetic!
I also have a studio in Fisher perfect for newborns, toddlers, small and large families, and more!
LOCATION
If picking out outfits for photos takes you back to your high school days when you literally tried on everything in your closet and piled it on your bed but still felt like you had nothing to wear, you're in luck.

Moms - to be, new and seasoned - can take advantage of my complimentary client closet satisfying a wide range of styles, sizes and colors.
waRDROBE STYLING
On the day of your session, we'll connect to make sure the weather still looks like it's going to corporate. We'll exchange numbers and finalize our meeting location. Please plan for your session to take up to an hour to 2 hours from start to finish, depending on what type of session we're doing.
The SEssion
All images from our sessions are typically delivered within about three to four weeks of the shoot date (depending on the time of year) via an online gallery. This gallery will allow you to share your favorites with family, order prints and even download images to share on social media.
DELIVERY
I am proud to offer clients a variety of ways to turn their images into keepsakes. Your images printed on wood, canvases to decorate your home, beautiful handmade albums and more.

My favorite locations have plenty of tall green grass, wildflowers in the spring and summer, tall lush trees for open shade, and breaks from the wind when needed.

Downtown locations in Champaign, Urbana and surrounding communities provide a wide variety of modern backdrops for families, seniors and couples. Urban locations also allow us to start your session earlier in day if needed and usually provide cover from too much wind.

My studio located in Fisher, IL is the perfect setting no matter what the weather brings. The neutral white setting allows your family or little one to become the main focus and creates a timeless backdrop for your treasured photos.

FIND INSPIRATION

With the growth of online shops, shopping for your littles is more fun than ever! We recommend choosing color families (neutrals, blues, etc) over perfectly matching outfits. I have several options available for newborn to 12 years.
For the Littles
When picking outfits I recommend keeping in mind the word “complement” rather than “match.” For example, if Dad is wearing a blue and pink pastel plaid shirt, Mom may want to choose a long, soft blue dress. It can also be a great idea to choose “color-families,” such as pastels or jewel tones.

The sooner the better! Weekends tend to fill up pretty quickly - especially during the spring and fall, so the sooner you reach out, the more likely you are to get your desired date!
To reserve your date, we'll need a contract as well as a retainer. And if something comes up and you need to change your date, just let us know!
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
Unless you've modeled professionally, you're probably going to feel awkward in front of the camera. Heck, I take photos for a living and even feel like a deer in the headlights when I'm in front of the camera.
You're going to feel awkward at first, but as the session goes on and I coach you through images, you'll find that being photographed can actually be fun. And don't worry about your kids. I'm well versed in capturing even the busiest of little ones.
We're Awkward and my kids don't sit still.
No one wants to look like a wet dog in their photos so if it looks like it's going to rain, snow, hail or some other weather catastrophe, we'll be in touch via email or phone to reschedule - usually 2-3 hours before you're scheduled session time.

Often, when we're scheduling your initial portrait session date, if it works for our calendars, we'll actually set up both a main date and a rain date just to make sure we don't have to postpone your session for very long if the weather is bad on the original date.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Within a few weeks of your session, you'll receive a link to a digital gallery that will allow you to download high resolution images.
The gallery is also set up to make ordering prints, canvases and other keepsakes as easy as turning on a Roomba to clean your floors. No worrying about tricky things like color correction, DPI and image format.
