Recently, my film images were featured in a blog on the Happy Tog’s website. My friend Holly writes about a truly epic night when we were reminded to slow down and pay attention. That is exactly what film does for me.
Often people ask me what my favorite age or genre is to photograph. That is an almost impossibly question for me to answer. If I’ve just photographed a newborn, I say, “Newborn!” If it’s a wedding, my answer is, “Weddings, I love LOVE!” So if you had asked me after Gibson’s 1 year photo session, the answer would have been, “One year old sessions with a cake smash – hands down!”
When my lifelong best friend, Heather asked me to photograph her family on the front porch of their new home in Cissna Park, I was over the moon excited! Being invited to photograph families in places that are so special to them makes our time spent together even more meaningful.
Do you remember what it was like to be a pre-tween/tween? Stuck in limbo between no longer being a “little girl” and not quite a “young lady?” Not quite ready to give up your American Girl Doll and definitely not ready for makeup and boys yet.

Recently, I got to spend time with these 3 friends. And I have to tell you folks, these are girls that are not afraid to be themselves, they root for each other – even when in direct competition with the other, and they are there when one needs a shoulder to cry on or a good laugh!

When Kristin contacted me about photographing her newborn boy, Callen, I was so excited! Newborn sessions are among my favorite, and Fresh 48 sessions in the hospital, are no exception. Many times these sessions are taken to capture the first moments that older siblings meet their new baby brother or sister, and their reactions can be priceless! Big sis Jocelyn had met her new brother the day before, but today she was getting to spend a bit more time with him during our session. She was very curious about him, and understandably hesitant to share her mom.
The Lemenager family has been coming to visit kDarling Photography every 3 months for well over a year – until Colt turned 1 anyway – then I had to wait 6 MONTHS to see Colt (and his family) for his 18 month session. It was wonderful to see one of my favorite families again. Let’s face […]
When Brynlee’s mom, Ashlee contacted me about a “Tea for Two” session for her daughter’s 2nd birthday, I knew it was gonna be special! The Bertan family has been coming to kDarling Photography since big brother Jack was a baby, and watching this sweet family grow has been awesome! Brynlee was born a tad bit […]
